Acoustic Insulation Properties
While primarily known for sound dampening rain noise (see Keyword 19), color-coated stone chip tile systems also contribute positively to the overall acoustic insulation of the roof assembly, helping to reduce the transmission of external airborne noise (traffic, aircraft, industrial sounds) into the building interior. This acoustic benefit arises from the combination of the mass and damping properties of the system components. The steel tile core itself has significant mass, which inherently resists the transmission of sound waves – sound energy is partially reflected and partially converted into vibrational energy within the metal. The dense layer of stone granules adds further mass and provides damping, dissipating vibrational energy. The critical component, however, is the Decoupling achieved by the batten system and the air gap beneath the tiles. This air gap acts as a sound barrier, interrupting the direct path for sound waves. When combined with a mass-loaded, sound-deadening underlayment and proper attic insulation (like fiberglass or cellulose batts), the entire assembly creates a multi-layered barrier effective across a range of sound frequencies.
Our factory uses advanced manufacturing techniques to create the anti - slip surface while maintaining the color and quality of the tiles. We conduct regular slip - resistance tests to ensure that our tiles meet safety standards.
