Chemical & Pollution Resistance
Color-coated stone chip tiles exhibit superior resistance to degradation from a wide range of environmental chemicals and airborne pollutants, making them ideal for urban, industrial, and coastal locations. This resilience is primarily attributed to the dense, inert layer of ceramic-coated natural stone granules and the high-quality, chemically stable coatings beneath. The stone granules (basalt/granite) are inherently resistant to acids, alkalis, and solvents. Their ceramic coating provides an additional barrier against chemical attack. The acrylic resin binder and topcoat paints used in premium systems are formulated for excellent chemical resistance, often based on polyurethane-modified or PVDF (Kynar 500®/Hylar 5000®) chemistries known for their inertness. This multi-layered system protects the underlying galvanized steel from corrosive agents like acid rain (common in industrial areas), sulfur dioxide emissions, salt spray (coastal environments), agricultural chemicals, and general atmospheric pollutants.
