Seismic Performance Advantage
The lightweight nature of color-coated stone chip tiles provides a distinct advantage in seismic performance compared to heavier traditional roofing materials like concrete tiles, clay tiles, or natural slate. During an earthquake, the inertial forces exerted on a building structure are directly proportional to the mass of the building components – the heavier the roof, the greater the lateral forces generated. Stone chip tiles, weighing typically 1.4-1.8 lbs/sq ft, impose a significantly lower dead load on the roof structure and supporting walls than concrete or clay tiles (9-12+ lbs/sq ft) or slate (10-20+ lbs/sq ft). This reduced mass results in substantially lower seismic forces acting on the building during ground shaking. Furthermore, the secure mechanical attachment of the tiles (clips and fasteners) ensures they remain firmly fixed to the structure, preventing hazardous dislodgement that could occur with heavier, less securely fastened tiles.
Our factory has a wide range of outdoor - specific colored stone tiles in different colors, sizes, and textures. We conduct regular outdoor durability tests to ensure that our products can withstand the harshest outdoor conditions.
